At a guess, which country would you say locks the most people up? China? Russia? North Korea? Nope, it’s the US. The United States incarcerates more people per 100,000 than Russia and China combined. This isn’t because we have more murderers or pimps or gangsters: according to TIME, nearly half of all inmates are in on drugs charges.
